Abstract of HOTEL PLAZA project

System analysis is the process of planning a particular system or to replace or complement an existing system.

The entire process of system analysis and development consists of four phases:-

Ø      Analysis

Ø      Design

Ø      Coding

Ø      Testing

ANALYSIS

Analysis is the process of gathering and interpreting facts, diagnosing problems and improvements to the system. In this project we developed software for hotel plaza, keonjhar, orissa. For this, we first gathered information regarding the hotel, their requirements, the user staff who handles them and the kind of operation they are performing on those data. We asked them various calculations, billing format, customer records collection reports, etc. they mentioned their requirements and accordingly we planned the project. This all was done in the analysis phase.

DESIGN

Design is a process that translates the requirements into ways of meeting them, after performing an analysis of the project requirements, we wrote the detail specification for the new system. We described its features like the inputs, outputs, files, databases, and procedures. We used Microsoft SQL Server at the backend. We created the login, vacroom, checkin, cust and bill tables to store the required information. At the front end we created the various forms using VB.NET to interact with the data in the database and the user.

CODING

Coding phase is where actual implementation of the project is done. Till now everything was done in pen and paper but now actual implementation is done to make it real existing. According to requirements and design specifications mentioned, design of the project is implemented using high-level language. To implement the designs here we used VB.NET and SQL Server 7.0 queries.

TESTING

Finally we tested the forms by providing some valid inputs and checking their outputs. We also checked the database simultaneously to see if the data has been updated to their respective tables or not.
